WELCOME !

WELCOME to Mira's merry maze of mirrors and miscellaneous mumblings . We are mirrors for each other. Through you , I come to know myself. Without you , how can I know the places in me that are unkind and invisible ? You bring me to myself. THIS IS MAY NOT BE THE WHOLE TRUTH but it is an aspect of the truth as Miramaze continues to live simply in the rhythm of her soul.

The world is not to be put in order

The world is not to be put in order

The world is not to be put in order; the world is order, incarnate. It is for us to harmonize with this order.

No mistake .

No mistake

No part of you, or any aspect of the life you are leading is a mistake. And no experience has been wasted. Each moment and every experience has served an invaluable function - to bring you to this moment of possibility

Lyran

Lyran

LYRAN - near Bredäng , Stockholm .
Last time I was here was for a friend's wedding a few years ago.
It was in winter and I remember walking for what seemed like miles from the tube station. I was walking on a sprained ankle , I think. The place was lit up by candles, cosy and warm inside. Mysterious.
Today's visit was in broad daylight. Less mysterious but still charming and shabby chic

Food that hit the spot

Food that hit the spot on Friday and Saturday

On Friday -  My homemade Pizza with mozzarella, tomato, red onion, mushrooms and peppers. mmmmmmmm
On Saturday : " Phad Grapraow Goang – wokade tigerräkor, chili, lök, vitlök och thaibasilika i ostronsås och en skål ris." at Nom Nom's , Djurgården . Sir-fried tiger prawns, chilli, onion, garlic, basil, and crunchy veggies in oyster sauce.  Not surprisingly ultra NOM NOM !!!

Pity about the weather  finished just in time :-)

Language is constantly changing

Language is constantly changing

This is a huge subject
I used to teach English as a foreign language , to adults mainly , and mainly here in Sweden, but stopped about 15 years ago round about the time that I started using the internet and I started to relax .
There are a lot of rules in language ; rules that a teacher must adhere to.
There's rules for grammar , punctuation, pronunciation etc etc
Rules are often broken, but a teacher is supposed to know what is correct and what is incorrect .
Pressure !
At the same time , language is constantly changing and the internet has speeded up this process.
I , am constantly changing too. My opinions and beliefs are changing. What used to be vitally important now seems trivial.
Take spelling for example . I used to react violently to misspelled words until I gained a more compassionate understanding of dyslexia i.e. word blindness.
Besides , my view now is it is more important to communicate and express yourself than worry about spelling , unless of it leads to misunderstanding , and of course , giving the wrong impression
Happily, with age comes tolerance .
Nowadays , I no longer have to struggle with what is correct and what is incorrect " Sorry , I'm retired - ask someone else " ,
Truth is , I couldn't care less and there is great freedom in expressing yourself exactly as you wish according to your mood.
That's how I feel here in Blogland: FREE !
I still wonder about some things.
When did bilberries stop being bilberries ? ( Most people now seem to prefer the American word - BLUEberries .
" Lay down here " instead of " Lie down here "
There are also expressions that have crept in since my time in Sweden. I used to noticed them every time I returned to visit.
" at the minute "
" what are you like ? "
I wish I could remember more ;))
See you later

The Thai Place on Djurgården

Ferry, food and number 55 bus

Got on the ferry and crossed over to Djurgården , past Grönalund ( Fun fair ) and made my way to the quayside where it is usually sheltered , nice and sunny and peaceful , away from the maddening crowds.
There's also a Thai food place ,quite secluded , consisting of a caravan kitchen , a couple of tables and chairs right on the water front and therefore an interesting view :)
The king prawn dish with chilli ,garlic, bamboo , srunchy veggies and rice was out of this world tasty and all for 85kr ( £8 )
Belly full, I share some rice with a little bird that drops by and then make my way back to the ferry as raindrops start falling on my head.
The ferry is packed full of people but I manage to find a seat , glad to be out of the rain.
By the time we get to the other side , it's stopped raining and I hop on a number 55 bus going to Hjorthagen . I've only a vague idea of where that is so this is one way to find out - one of the pleasures of having a travel card is that you can hop on and off as you like. Half an hour later we have reached the end of the line where the bus waits 15 minutes before heading back which lets me have a quick wander around.
Nothing much to see here. Houses and flats , greenery , a couple of gas pylons and a water tower . The place looks very small town suburban. I spot a school , pizzeria, hairdressers, small coop and the entrance to a tube station.
No. I wouldn't like to live here . I'm so happy I live where I do , I think to myself as get back on the bus and get off at Mariatorget . From there it is only a short walk to chez moi.
Mini adventure over.
Tomorrow's adventure awaits.

In other news .....

In other news .....

Sun's out and so welcome after 3 very rainy days :)
I doing laundry ; sheets and towels 95C wash after all the strep around :)
Eating bread again and loving it . Managed to be gluten free for two weeks and didn't notice a huge difference, so conclude that I am not gluten intolerant , but, may return to gluten free one day a week or eat less bread and pasta .
Emmerdale is very exciting ( we're about 2 years behind the u.k. btw ) Judges found Ryan guilty of murdering his father , but now his wicked step - brother has finally admitted that it was his mother who is the real killer.88| I have to love his subtle methods of persuasion ;)
Finally , a note from the Universe
" want to know what's better than having it all? Way, way better?
Not having it all, but knowing of its inevitability, in a never-ending adventure that's just barely begun.
Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaa!
The Universe
...kind of like Friday just before the weekend. "

Don't act rashly, now .

Not wishing to act rashly

" Take these pills three times a day . If it gets worse, head straight for the hospital ".
At the time I was relieved to get diagnosed and the appropriate meds so I left the clinic one happy reassured bunny.
Happy and reassured until questions and doubts start to arise.
So what exactly does 'worse ' mean ?
How soon can I expect improvement ?
Mentioned rash ( erysipelas ) to my friend, a doctor , who was bitten by a dog last week . She is now at home , nursing her wounds and trying to recover from sudden and unprovoked attack, while vicious canine was sent away "to the happy hunting grounds in the sky ".
My friend is warning me to be careful. Use antibacterial hand wash , keep away from grandson and inform the nursery staff. " you don't want to pass this on to anybody else ...."
88|:roll::**:
Having fears mirrored back at me is most disconcerting,
I don't like it.
There was no mention made of erysipelas being contagious.
I have to wonder.
Don't wish to be paranoid. but it does make sense to take care.
What does 'taking care ' mean exactly ?
For some it might mean : skydiving is out for today.
For others it means, disinfect , sterilise and scrub everything in sight , then cut yourself off from the outside world for the foreseeable future.
That's enough to make one break out in a rash , right there .
Let's not act rashly here , is what I say
calma calma :)

September 2012 . A bit of a rash .

A bit of a rash .

I thought I going down with the flu or some sort of bug on Thursday afternoon ; shivers , headache and complete loss of appetite. Sure signs that summat is up .
My son had asked me to stay to dinner too.. There's nothing I like better than to have both 'my boys' to myself . Sadly I could only manage a few mouthfuls before heading home, bath and bed.  Temperature 39.2 C . It was while I was in the bath that I noticed that the small rash that was there had spread. Oh dear. Could there be a connection ? I'm quite used to mosquito bites spreading  , but now , at the end of the summer , and indoors ?
Spent Friday in bed , sleeping , drinking , resting and documenting everything. ( I have to write everything down otherwise I forget) Also spent ages paying my bills on line - a ginormous task , given the thumping headache, fever and inability to focus. ( poor me )
My son advised me to have it checked out. Easier said than done as most clinics close for the weekend. ( you are not supposed to be ill on weekends or public holidays )
We do have an amazing health advice service . You call a number and get to speak to a medical professional and to cut a long story short , I was given the number of my nearest clinic which I phoned and got an appointment an hour later 09:10 .
So, I've been given penicillin to take 3 times a day for 10 days. Should it get worse , I have to go to emergency at the local hospital and  intravenous antibiotics to prevent blood poisoning.  Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
TTFN - all healing thoughts most welcome !
btw Doc diagnosed rash as erysipelas .
